The narwhal is found in the extreme northern Atlantic and Arctic oceans. This species possesses a long, spiraled tooth that projects like a horn and can reach a length of 10 feet (3 m) in males. This elongated tooth is typically found on the left side of the upper jaw, protruding through the lip. However, in rare instances, narwhals have been documented with two tusks or with the tusk on the right side. While its precise function is not fully understood, the narwhal's tooth is believed to play a role in communication, navigation, or potentially as a tool for breaking ice or hunting.
Specifications:
- 1:1 scale
- Polyurethane resin cast
- Each tusk has a steel center to prevent bending or warping. A threaded steel rod protrudes from the end for attachment to the solid round base. Both the base and the rod are removable to allow for horizontal display.
