Replica Giant Fossil Armadillo Skull
Holmesina floridanus was a large, prehistoric armadillo-like mammal that lived in North America during the Pleistocene epoch. Belonging to the pampathere family, it had a protective, flexible shell similar to modern armadillos but was much larger, reaching up to six feet in length. As a herbivore, it likely fed on tough vegetation, using its strong limbs and claws for digging and foraging. Holmesina floridanus went extinct around 12,000 years ago, possibly due to climate change and human activity.
