The Idaho pocket gopher is a small burrowing rodent species endemic to the western United States. These pocket gophers are adapted for a subterranean lifestyle, with large cheek pouches for carrying food and strong, clawed forelimbs for digging burrows. Like other pocket gopher species, they are characterized by their fossorial adaptations, including small eyes and ears, and a short, stocky build suited for a life spent underground.
