The kit fox is a small nocturnal, canid native to arid desert regions of the southwestern United States and parts of northern Mexico. Its outward appearance is very similar to that of the swift fox. The kit fox is mostly carnivorous and dines on rabbits, small rodents, birds, reptiles and insects.
