Real Pufferfish on String (2-3 inch)
Pufferfish are unique, primarily saltwater fish known for their ability to inflate themselves as a defense mechanism when threatened. This dramatic transformation is due to an elastic stomach that fills with water or air, making the puffer appear much larger to potential predators. Many species also contain a potent toxin, tetrodotoxin, which deters predators and can be fatal if ingested, making these fish both fascinating and dangerous to those that encounter them in the wild.
