The North American beaver is the largest rodent in North America and the second-largest in the world behind the South American capybara. With webbed feet for advanced swimming capabilities and digitated front paws made for digging, the North American beaver frequently moves between terrestrial and aquatic environments. The beaver's large, orange, self-sharpening incisors continue growing throughout its life and are worn down and maintained by gnawing on wood.
