Hands-On Education Programs:
At SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology, we offer immersive learning experiences for students of all ages, from preschoolers to college students. Our educational programs are designed to engage and motivate your students through differentiated instruction, student-centered activities, and science exploration. Our programs provide creative spaces for students to collaborate and foster teamwork while educating them about the vital roles of bones in the animal kingdom and emphasizing the importance of conservation efforts for our planet.
The programs!
Our programs align with Oklahoma Academic Standards and STEM principles, encouraging students to use problem-solving skills through teamwork and communication. They focus on natural and life science themes and concepts while integrating a fun and interactive learning approach. Our hands-on programs offer an exciting journey into the world of bones, allowing students to become bone detectives! Students can delve into the world of real bones and uncover their mysteries with our engaging programs like Animal CSI, Forensic Osteology, To Tell the Tooth, Animal Adaptations, and Owl Pellet Dissections. Most importantly, we aim to cultivate a lifelong love for the science of osteology and make their learning experience genuinely exciting.
The classroom:
Our education team is passionate about fostering a love for osteology and providing valuable educational experiences. For our programs inside the classroom, we have implemented a cap on the student count of 24. This 24-student limit matters so we can follow our mission to deliver engaging and immersive experiences that foster a fun and exciting appreciation for osteology. Limiting the number of students for each program ensures that all students have the best opportunity for active participation, meaningful teamwork, and collaboration.
Maintaining 24-student group sizes enhances learning quality in these ways:
Consider a field trip!
If you can’t stay for a program, SKELETONS: Museum of Osteology is still a fantastic place to bring your school, daycare, camp field trips, and much more! Our field trips include a discounted group rate and free scavenger hunts that help keep the students engaged with all the museum exhibits. Our museum has 40 exhibits with over 450 REAL animal skeletons in unique positions, a view of flesh-eating beetles, natural curiosities, and a gift shop filled with educational and engaging gifts. We are proud to offer an experience unlike any other in the United States!
Other options!
Our programs are available even if you are in a different state. We offer virtual programs where students can still enjoy engaging lessons about osteology worldwide. All educational materials are provided electronically before the Zoom program.
Another option we have to offer is our Traveling Trunk Programs! You can literally “check out” our programs if you are local! Our traveling kit programs contain interactive materials, biofact specimens, and a curriculum for STEM activities.
Skeletons: Museum of Osteology is a bone-tastic adventure waiting for students, whether they join us on-site or virtually! It’s like the coolest science adventure playground ever, promoting STEM smarts and giving you a deeper scoop on osteology! 💀🔬💡
